DPS MODERN INDIAN SCHOOL SUCCESSFULLY HOSTS THE 9TH EDITION OF TEDXYOUTH@DPSMIS 2023-24

DPS – Modern Indian School held the 9th Edition of TEDxYouth@DPSMIS on 16th December 2023 on the theme “The Art of Flaws”- a philosophical perspective that encourages individuals to perceive imperfections as intrinsic elements of human experience rather than deficiencies.

The event was organized by an  executive team consisting of 15 students from Grade XII, and around 15  volunteers from both Grades XI and XII. The event featured five speakers who shared their incredible journeys with an audience of around 120 people.

Conchita Ponce, a solopreneur and founder of Doha Women’s Gathering, displayed her viewpoint on the subject with a discourse titled ‘Confessions of a Solopreneur’. She presented her perspective on the theme with a speech guiding us through her different struggles as a businesswoman and how life was never a smooth sailing ship.

The second speaker of the event was Syed Hamad Abbas, a Sales Program Officer at Qatar Airways and a DPS Alumnus. He gave the crowd an insightful address on ‘Communication And The Canvas of Memory’, which explained the power of speech delivery, body language and how the impressions lasts on one’s memory.

Azhar Jaleel Muhammed made history as DPS-MIS’ first-ever student speaker, being the third speech of the event. The President of the Senior Student Council at DPS edified the gathering of people with his views on the subject ‘Examinations and Expectations’. His expression of feelings of failure and success with tests resonated with the young minds and empowered them to feel unabashed of how far they’ve come.

The fourth speaker, Asmaa Al-Kuwari took the youthful audience members on a journey through finding one’s identity and being true to oneself in her address ‘Flawed and Fearless: Embracing Imperfection’. Her story taught everyone the truth about finding one’s purpose and being what they are regardless of what others may perceive of them.

The final speaker for this edition, Abdul Nassar, a Senior Finance Professional, mountaineer, and proud author of his book  ‘Ironman Iron spirit’ enthused everyone with his extraordinary experience in scaling Mt.Everest in his speech titled ‘Conquering the Mountain Within’. He excels at the pinnacle of his pain and makes a miracle out of his most difficult moments during his dangerous trek up the highest mountain in the world.

Overall, the event was a huge success, leaving the youth energized and motivated. They have now attained insight to building their confidence and becoming their best version, in acceptance to all of their imperfections, bringing curiosity about themselves.

TEDxYouth@DPSMIS stands solid as the longest-running independent  youth event in Qatar to date, and will continue for generations to come.
