DPS-Modern Indian School conducted the 6th edition of TEDxYouth@DPSMIS on 5th November 2020. With the inability to host the event physically due to lockdown restrictions, the event was translated to an online setting as a live premiere was streamed on the TEDxYouthDPS Youtube Channel. It was the first-ever pre-recorded online event with an unlimited-access to audience as opposed to the 100 participant limit in the previous years.
The event featured five speakers who shared their crucial life experiences revolving around the theme “Addressing Adversity.” The first speaker, Jose Saucedo, an environmentalist, discussed about prevailing plastic pollution and his efforts in hosting large beach clean-ups. The second speaker, Ahmed Hikal, a life coach and travel enthusiast, reflected upon a tragic home accident and emphasized loyalty and true mentorship. The third speaker, Jann Carlo Rojas, a renowned communication specialist, in his speech, highlighted the importance of enjoying the process and shared stories of the T’Boli tribe of The Philippines – the dream weavers. The fourth speaker Kummam Al Maadeed, , a novelist by passion, shed light on winning her battle against depression’ and inspired the young minds to stand tall, adapt and overcome all odds. Finally, Nisha Shivram, a toastmaster, talked about her initiative of sharing extraordinary life stories in order to empower people and bring about a positive change around. ‘Embrace your imperfections and lead an impactful life’ were her inspiring words.
TEDxYouth@DPSMIS continues to be the longest-running youth event and is a paradigm of the school’s efforts in enriching young minds with curiosity, inspiration, and real-world experiences.
