“ My name is Anshuman Sahoo, Class of 2010. I am in Toronto now, studying Computer Engineering. Three years on from my last day at school, I sit studying for another exam. And another. But I am doing so happily because my school gave me a spirit. That should be the thing, I believe that DPS MIS gives its students above everything else.
I joined the school in its second year, and the spirit of the school to be the best soon caught up with its students. We were a small institution back then, and so we celebrated all our wins and losses in the same manner. There was always an air of business about everything we did, as if we were not students taking a backseat and trying to learn as the show goes on in front of us. We were the show – we walked into school and learnt things, academic and otherwise as if we represented the school. The term believing in something bigger than us stood right back then. We were closer to our teachers than I ever thought possible, closer to each other. In the end, what I thought made the school stand apart was the sense of community – not necessarily in the idealistic “Service before self” way all the time. Rather, we were simply moving through everything together.
I do not know how many people will connect to this now, since the school is ever evolving. But if I could send a message back, it would be to keep that spirit and for everyone’s sake – DO NOT EVER BECOME JUST A SCHOOL.”
